🚀 This Week's Hacks: Comparisons earn 26% higher CVR

The best email of your week

Hey, Marketers! Are we facing the end of Google Search? It certainly seems like Gen Z can do without it - they’re searching on social media. Good thing this week’s growth hacks will always be essential:

What’s in the news…

Instagram is testing unskippable video ads, LinkedIn rolled out new features to help B2B marketers, and Google’s AI Overviews are presenting mixed results.

Growth Hacks

#1. Compare reviews to boost CVR +26%

Thomas McKinlay revealed that reviews comparing your product to others are 26% more effective at converting prospects.

So encourage customers to include comparisons in their reviews so they seem more authoritative.

One way to do this: Add placeholder text in review boxes: “I liked [product] better than [other product] because …”

#2: The best way to bounce back after a Google core update

Recovering after a Google core update means taking a methodical and strategic approach to assess what impact (if any) it had on your site.

Here's Claire Brain's suggestion for identifying trends and pinpointing what’s working or needs improvement after an update:

First, segment your data by device, location, user behavior, content type, and quality.

Then, check URL directories (e.g., /blog vs. /product) to assess visibility trends and identify common factors among your top-performing and underperforming pages.

#3. Agitate the problem for viral UGC

Use Dara Denney’s formula for the perfect UGC video to create content that resonates and converts.

Start by highlighting a relatable problem in your hook, then agitate it to make it feel urgent.

Offer the solution naturally after building trust by having the creator share their honest experience - even mentioning if a product didn't work for them initially.

Example: In a Dieux Skin UGC video, the creator admitted one of the brand's products didn't work for her at first, establishing trust. She then shared the problem and solution, making the ad feel genuine.
