🚀 This Week's Hacks: Do me a favor, respond to my email 📩

The best email of your week

Hey, Marketers! We have mixed feelings on the latest Slack UI update. But you know what’s not changing? The awesome growth hacks coming your way every week:

What’s in the news…

Google keeps rolling out core updates, Meta introduced a new Click-to-Message + Call Prompt ad product, YouTube surpassed Netflix as the top video source for teens.

Growth Hacks

#1. Increase cold email response rates with a good deed

Decision-makers receive tons of cold emails daily (~120, to be exact). Your goal? Stand out.

That starts at the email hook with a subject line that piques curiosity and an opening line that engages and holds attention. But here's something to add to get people to respond: A quick favor.

Spend five minutes daily on a genuine gesture that helps out the recipient without expecting a return. This is an Adam Grant suggestion that really works.

Some favor ideas:

  • Share their content.

  • Review their work.

  • Engage on their socials.

  • Donate to their cause.

  • Complete their surveys.

Here's how this looks in action:

"I hope this finds you well. I recently listened to your podcast episode on [Topic/Episode Title]. I really enjoyed your take on [Topic/takeaway], so I took a moment to share it with my LinkedIn network. I genuinely believe more people can benefit from the insights you shared.

Having said that, I'm reaching out to discuss...”

#2: This is the SEO secret to 50% more search impressions

While backlinks get all the fame in SEO, internal links are the unsung heroes. According to SEO wizards like Eli Schwartz, Ethan Smith, and Kevin Indig, tweaking these can skyrocket your search impressions by 10 to 50% within 50 days.

Your 4-step action plan:

1) Supercharge key pages: Want a page to stand out in search? Link to it from multiple pages on your site. Aim for a minimum of 7 links. Magic happens there.

2) Harness homepage power: Your homepage isn't just your digital storefront; it's an SEO powerhouse. Link it directly to your most crucial pages.

3) Optimize anchor text: Ditch the "click here". Make your anchor text relevant and actionable.

Example: Swap "Click here to join our marketing community" with a succinct "Join our marketing community."

4) Quick audit: Check for broken links. Tools like Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, or Semrush can help. A clean site is an SEO-happy site.

#3. Give data-dense B2B content a refresh

We've all seen the clunky data sets and buzzword-filled blog posts. It's time to give B2B content a new look.

Kyle Poyar shares his tips for creating and repurposing online B2B content that has real value - and that potential customers will actually want to read.

First: Skim through your recent emails, customer queries, or product reviews to identify common pain points, questions, or interests related to your niche or services.

Then: Create a concise and compelling LinkedIn post addressing the identified topic or answering the query, aiming for no more than 150-200 words. And encourage engagement by asking a relevant question or inviting opinions.

After: Scan the engagements (likes, comments, shares) your post receives to evaluate the interest level and decide whether it’s worth expanding into long-form content.

If: The post receives positive engagement, sketch a plan to expand and repurpose it into various formats like blogs, videos, or newsletters to reach a larger audience on various platforms.
