Growth Hacks

#1. [PART 1] Twenty landing page tips to help 99% of marketers

In a recent video, Nik Sharma tore down landing pages to uncover the best practices that can lead to conversions.

Here are 10 of his top tips we're sharing in Part 1. Look out for 10 more next week:

  1. Keep copy concise and benefit-driven, not just value-focused.

  2. Prioritize mobile design - 80% of traffic is mobile.

  3. Highlight pricing and offers with bold colors or graphics. Pro tip: colored CTAs perform better.

  4. Streamline your email subscribe form. Get rid of first and last name - only request email addresses.

  5. Ensure a 2-click maximum checkout process.

  6. Incorporate comparison charts for informed purchasing decisions.

  7. Implement 'buy now, pay later' options. ShopPay Installments for Shopify are a good option.

  8. Emphasize benefits over features in product quotes. Make sure you're highlighting lifestyle impacts, like "Upgrading to the 64oz bottle changed my life. I drink more water than ever before and have more energy and sleep better thanks to staying hydrated with this bottle.”

  9. For reviews, display product details, reviewer's name, photo, and "Verified Purchaser" tag.

  10. Always include an FAQ section for confidence-building before purchase.

#2: How to find Featured Snippet opportunities from your keyword list

In SEO, the term "Featured Snippet" refers to those optimized snippets directly highlighted by Google in search results.

There's no secret recipe to date for obtaining them, but it is possible to influence Google's choice.

This starts with understanding which keywords are suitable for a Featured Snippet. And here's the thing - that comes from the keywords you already cover.

Start by heading to our favorite tool: Ahrefs! Then simply follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Explorer Site

  2. Copy and paste the URL of your site into the search bar and go to the "Organic Keywords" tab. This will open your keyword report.

  3. Now add the following filters:

    - Position: 2-10

    - SERP features: "Where target doesn't rank" & "Featured Snippet". Then click "Apply" at the bottom of the list

  4. Once you have the list, refine it even more by adding the following filter: "Volume: from 500".

Now you know which content to update and prioritize to try and earn a Featured Snippet!

#3. Give the people what they want, immediately

A study from Leonard Green, Astrid F. Fry, and Joel Myerson explained a phenomenon called "hyperbolic discounting". It revealed that people often prefer immediate rewards over larger, future gains.

Now here's the good stuff: Marketers can use this behavioral insight to design more compelling offers and encourage conversions.

Quick wins using hyperbolic discounting:

- Revise your product messaging to spotlight immediate benefits: Rather than just focusing on the long-term value of your product, emphasize what customers will get right away.

For example: You’re marketing an online course on "Advanced Digital Marketing Techniques." Instead of emphasizing the possibility of “becoming a digital marketing expert in 6 months,” you could pitch, “Get actionable strategies you can apply today to boost your ad campaign's ROI.”

- Launch FOMO-driven offers: Create limited-time offers to capitalize on both urgency and the need for immediate rewards. Emails that induce urgency see transaction rates double, as per Experian data.

For example: There's a new summer collection you want to promote. Email your subscribers with a subject line like, "24-hour Flash Sale! Get your summer must-haves now before they're gone!" In the email body, mention a limited-time offer: “Shop within the next 24 hours to get a free beach tote with any purchase above $100.”

- Update or create instant reward loyalty programs: Make your loyalty programs irresistibly immediate. Don't just offer future points; give instant perks or discounts.

For example: Introduce a loyalty card where every new subscriber instantly receives a free sample of a premium coffee blend along with their first purchase. This immediate reward can be pitched as, “Subscribe today and savor our exclusive 'Mountain Roast' blend, on the house!”
